Unfortunately, the California Supreme Court upheld the controversial Proposition 8 today. While same-sex marriages performed prior to Prop 8 will continue to be recognized as valid, the ban on future marriages remains in effect. It is sad that a country that adamantly upholds it’s ‘right to bear arms’ continues to compromise the equal protection of its citizens under the law. Evidently, we still have a long way to go with regards to securing civil rights in North America.
